The Partners of Child & Family Canada


Child & Family Canada is a diverse group of non-profit organizations whose membership bases are very different but whose missions are firmly rooted in a commitment to the well-being of Canada's children and their families. We have come together on the World Wide Web under the banner of Child & Family Canada knowing that together we can reach a very broad audience with our important public education resources.

Adoption Council of Canada

promoting understanding for Canadians of all aspects of adoption for adoptees, birth parents and adoptive parents and raising awareness of the Canadian children in need of permanent homes.

Big Brothers and Sisters of Canada

helping in the development of children growing up in primarily lone-parent families through 180 member agencies that provide quality adult volunteer relationships to children across Canada

Campaign 2000

raising awareness and support for the 1989 all-party House of Commons resolution to end child poverty by the year 2000 through a cross-Canada network of over 80 national, provincial and community partners

Canada Safety Council

providing safety information, education and awareness for Canadians through 350 national member organizations and 3,000 instructors nation-wide

Canadian Association for Community Care

serving 1,200 Canadian agencies/organizations providing direct community care services such as Meals on Wheels, home care support and long-term care

Canadian Association for Community Living

confirming human rights for people with intellectual disabilities and to fight for more meaningful lives for people with intellectual disabilities in Canada.

Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance

bringing together 900 teachers, administrators, researchers, coaches, students and others with an interest in the fields of physical education, health, active living, recreation, sport and dance

Canadian Association for Young Children

concerned with the well being of children, birth through age nine - at home, in preshool settings and at school.

Canadian Association of Family Resource Programs

providing leadership, consultation and resources to 500 program members and approximately 1,500 non-members who care for children and support families across Canada

Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists

representing 3,800 speech-language pathologists and audiologists and supporting their professional development needs through a variety of services, including a national certification program, and championing the interests of people who require speech, language and hearing services through advocacy activities.

Canadian Child Care Federation

improving the quality of child care for Canada's families through a membership base of 9,000 child care providers across the country

Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children

promoting the concerns of over 50 national, non-governmental organizations to ensure the observance, both by governments and individuals, of the rights and freedoms proclaimed in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

Canadian Council on Social Development

focusing on issues of economic and social security for 750 individual and organization members in the academic and policymaking community

Canadian Dental Hygienists Association

serving 7,200 registered dental hygienists working in a myriad of settings across Canada and facilitating increased access and choice for consumers and providers in the delivery of dental hygiene care

Canadian Institute of Child Health

working with governments, educators and professionals to equip them with the best in research and programs; and reaching out to families to help with the crucial task of nurturing, protecting, educating, and empowering our children and youth.

Canadian Mental Health Association

promoting the mental health of all people for over 80 years. CMHA has 12 provincial/territorial division offices and approximately 130 local branches and regions across Canada. We deal with all aspects of mental health and mental disorder through public education, advocacy, service delivery, and research.

advancing the quality of nursing in the interests of the public through a professional membership of 110,000 registered nurses

Canadian Paediatric Society

serving Canadian children and its membership of 2,000 paediatricians by advocating for the health needs of Canada's children and youth, establishing national standards and guidelines for paediatric care and practice, and providing continuing medical education in paediatrics

providing a wide range of assistance to millions of people through national disaster relief services, and working at reducing suffering and death from injuries through national first aid and water safety training programs and abuse prevention services. We help people deal with situations that threaten: their survival and safety; their security and well-being; their human dignity; in Canada and around the world.

Canadian Teachers’ Federation

ensuring that, as teachers, opinion was heard and taken into account whenever any authority outside the provincial jurisdiction was considering action which would affect teachers, or impinge on their work with students.

Canadian Toy Testing Council

serving Canada's families through the publication of an annual TOY REPORT based on input from a network of 400 families, evaluators and advocates who encourage the design, manufacture and distribution of toys sensitive to children's needs

National Voluntary Organizations/National Children’s Alliance

believing that Canadians can have highly effective, progressive social policies which respond directly to their needs. The NVO is committed to making this case and finding ways to support the work of their member organizations as they revive and reconnect Canada’s social fabric.

Nunavut Inuit Child Care Association

representing children, childcare centers, child development programs and services, societies and staff. NICCA will assume the principles of the Inuit Child Care Program and will work to assure that they are employed in Nunavut licensed childcare centers. These include: Inuit directed, developed and delivered services.

Ontario Coalition For Better Child Care

bringing the benefits of early childhood education to the attention of the public and to policy makers. We advocate for the development of high quality non-profit, accessible child care services within the province of Ontario and nationally.
